In a Microwave Journal technical feature article, written collaboratively by Peter Bacon of Peregrine Semiconductor and Drew Fischer and Ruan Lourens of National Instruments, RF switch technology is discussed in a broad sense, giving definitions and examples of specific types of switches and how they can be used. No single RF solution can solve every requirement for every application. Issues such as frequency range, switching speed, isolation, power consumption and reliability must be considered in determining which technology to use.
