Peregrine Semiconductor Achieves ISO/TS 16949 Quality System Certification

UltraCMOS® RFIC manufacturer demonstrates commitment to excellence

San Diego, California, March 19, 2012 – Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation (Peregrine), a leading provider of high-performance radio-frequency (RF) integrated circuits (ICs) today announced that it has achieved its ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification. The scope of the specification extends to all elements of Peregrine Semiconductor’s systems it employs to design, produce and deliver its products.

“We have worked diligently to reach this milestone and are very proud of this achievement,” said Gene Lyons, the company’s vice-president of Quality Assurance. “Our global customers already know that we provide high-performance, high-quality RF components. This certification to the ISO/TS 16949 standard validates our commitment to excellence from development through production.”

The ISO/TS 16949:2009 Quality Standard was developed by IATF (International Automotive Task Force) members and approved by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) for publication. It is an industry-specific Quality Management System (QMS) catering to automotive markets with the following objectives: to promote continuous improvement; to emphasize defect prevention; and reduce waste and variation.

Peregrine’s UltraCMOS® RFICs are already used in remote keyless entry applications found in vehicle systems worldwide. According to Lyons, the quality demands apply not only to automotive customers but also to those in the telecommunications, aerospace, test and measurement, medical and general industrial markets.

“Our goal is to ensure we have robust, repeatable and documented methodologies and systems to consistently produce products at a quality level required not only by the automotive industry, but also by leading OEMs in the high-volume wireless market,” Lyons added.

In order to maintain the ISO/TS 16949 certification, Peregrine will be required to participate in annual follow-up audits. Lyons said these audits will help the company “improve against established performance benchmarks, and ensure customer satisfaction.”

About Peregrine Semiconductor

Peregrine Semiconductor is a fabless provider of high-performance radio frequency integrated circuits, or RFICs. The Company’s solutions leverage proprietary UltraCMOS technology, which enables the design, manufacture, and integration of multiple RF, mixed-signal, and digital functions on a single chip. The Company’s products deliver what we believe is an industry leading combination of performance and monolithic integration, and target a broad range of applications in the aerospace and defense, broadband, industrial, mobile wireless device, test and measurement equipment, and wireless infrastructure markets. UltraCMOS technology combines the ability to achieve the high levels of performance of traditional specialty processes, with the fundamental benefits of standard CMOS, the most widely used semiconductor process technology. UltraCMOS technology utilizes a synthetic sapphire substrate, a near-perfect electrical insulator, providing low parasitic capacitance and enabling high signal isolation and excellent broadband linearity. These attributes result in RF devices with excellent high-frequency performance and power handling performance, reduced crosstalk between frequencies, and enhanced network efficiency. Peregrine Semiconductor has engineered design advancements, including the patented HaRP™ technology which significantly improves harmonic and linearity performance, and the patent-  pending DuNE™ technology, a circuit design technique used to develop advanced digitally tunable capacitor (DTC) products. The Company offers a broad portfolio of high-performance RFICs including switches, digitally tunable capacitors (DTCs), digital attenuators, frequency synthesizers, mixers and prescalers, and is developing power amplifiers (PAs) and DC-DC converters. Peregrine products are sold worldwide through direct sales and field applications engineering staff and a network of independent sales representatives and distribution partners.
