pSemi Announces Volume Production of ARC3C0845 LED Driver IC

SAN DIEGO—Sept. 18, 2018—pSemi Corporation, a Murata company focused on semiconductor integration, announces volume production of the ARC3C0845 LED driver IC. Part of the ARC3C product line, the IC targets the fast-growing, ultra-high-definition (UHD) LCD displays market for notebook computers, Ultrabooks and 2-in-1 convertibles. The ARC3C ICs feature a patented “staged-pipeline” architecture that effectively reduces dependence on inductance, inherently lowers EMI and ripple and uniquely enables ultra-low profile solutions with industry-leading power conversion efficiency – addressing key pain points for mobile computing. The boost architecture delivers LED efficiency levels of greater than 94 percent peak at up to 45V output and with an input voltage range up to 15V.

The ARC3C0845 is an ultra-high efficiency DC/DC converter solution with integrated programmable current sinks that drive up to eight strings of LEDs. The ARC3C0845 integrates all MOSFETs and their control and driver circuitry. With its proprietary architecture, the ARC3C0845 provides the highest efficiency (>94%) possible in a compact 4 mm x 4 mm 32-pin LGA package. The high switching frequency enables a small and low-profile solution size aligned to the needs of the latest mobile products.  An I²C 6.0-compatible serial interface operating at up to 1 MHz is included, allowing extensive used programming, with settings stored in on-board non-volatile memory. The product features best-in-class dimming capability including linear, logarithmic, analog, PWM, mixed-mode dimming or direct PWM dimming with up to 15-bit dimming resolution.
