Peregrine Semiconductor created the digital step attenuator (DSA) product category in 2004 and has now shipped tens of millions of units. DSAs are used to control the amplitude of an RF or analog signal.
UltraCMOS® DSAs include digital control circuitry integrated with an RF attenuator core and are used in many applications including 3G and 4G cellular basestations, repeaters, point-to-point nodes and test-and-measurement (T&M) equipment. Peregrine’s highly linear and configurable digital attenuators reduce design complexity by maintaining excellent performance in both intermediate frequency, or IF, and RF applications, over a range of supply voltages and an increasingly large frequency range.
Peregrine’s attenuators are ideally suited for wireless-infrastructure devices, broadband consumer and infrastructure equipment, land-mobile-radios (LMRs), T&M equipment and military RF applications. The DSAs deliver power control in distributed antenna systems; gain control for optical repeaters in wireless-infrastructure devices; signal conditioning in broadband equipment; and amplitude conditioning in T&M equipment and LMRs.
